Yin Yoga is synonymous with passive stretching. It is a slower paced yoga that targets deep connective tissue, like fascia, ligaments, joints, and bones.
Moving slow, you will find a position where you feel you are stretching without pain. Then you will hold that pose for longer times than in traditional yoga classes.
This practice will result in longer, more elastic, and stronger connective tissue. Yin Yoga improves energy flow. It is common after a yin yoga class to feel lighter and more relaxed.
For a more relaxing practice make sure you have a 10 foot strap with D-ring and a couple of blocks.
Suitable for all levels.
In this class you will practice both "Yin" passive as well as "Yang" active stretching yoga poses. Yin Yoga lengthens and strengthens our connective tissue while Yang yoga targets our muscles.
In a Yin practice you will relax your muscles to go deep into the connective tissue. In a Yang practice you will engage and strengthen some muscles while stretching others.
While passive "Yin" is associated with flexibility, active "Yang" is associated with mobility of our joints as well as muscle strength. They are complementary practices.
All levels welcome.
Hatha Yoga encompasses both strength and flexibility. This class is designed to strengthen your whole body in preparation for more advanced Hatha yoga classes.
You will strengthen your abdominals as well as back muscles which will improve your posture and give support to your spine.
This practice improves proprioception, awareness and control of our own body.
Suitable for all levels.
Vinyasa Yoga connects one pose to the next in a flow using the breath. Vinyasa literally means "to place in a special way", indicating we are moving slow with consciousness for each movement in each moment.
Vinyasa Yoga is a more complete type of practice as it moves through various asana families in a single class. It generates heat and builds strength and flexibility.
It is also considered a moving meditation since we move with full consciousness from one pose to the next. Vinyasa is about balance, grace and fluidity.
Previous knowledge of basic poses is recommended. Classes are for all levels.
